Blue Moon Farms, The Master Bath

stallwithview.jpg

We wanted to create a serene escape in our Master Bathroom, while continuing the modern farmhouse simplicity of a black and white color scheme. The reclaimed barn wood floors extend into the bathroom, and add an element of rustic warmth. The view looks North at our barn and horse pasture, and soon- the garden-which will be right outside the windows!

We opted for custom opposing single vanities as opposed to the double vanity option, with burnished brass fittings. The countertop is Bianco Dolomiti Marble. The brass medicine cabinets above are from Restoration Hardware. and the brass faucets are Rohl from Studio 41.

The only carry over from our old house in this room is the Superordinate Antler chandelier from Roll & Hill above the bathtub. It was above the bed in our Master Bedroom at our old house. A modern spin on a traditional antler chandelier, we ordered four matching sconces to hang above the vanities.

Several rooms in our house have accents of Old Chicago Brick, and we knew that was an element we wanted to include in the Master Bath as well. It worked perfectly as a surround for the fireplace. There’s nothing quite like taking a hot bubble bath during a snowstorm with the fire roaring and horses walking past- although I am not complaining about these warmer sunny early Spring days we are getting!

The custom made steel shower stall is 11 feet tall- floor to ceiling. This was actually the last piece to be completed in our home- we moved in last August and showered for three months with no wall or door! It was worth the wait, and adds an industrial chic vibe to the space. The walls in the shower are white subway tile with a handmade brick appearance instead of the more widely used shiny version. We added a custom marble bench and shelf, and two burnished brass shower heads from Studio 41.

The first item we purchased for the Master Bath was the Cowboy Clawfoot Bathtub! Being that we live on a farm, it seemed the perfect balance of indulgence and practicality and set the tone for the room. A girl needs a place to put a candle or wine glass (or both!) and this accent table from Home Goods was the right fit, and the right price- I also got the faux tree there (I love Home Goods and miss my frequent visits!) The candle is Wild Fig Tree from Arhaus, I have them all over the house because it smells incredible! In fact I just ordered a bunch more because I saw they are on sale!

We didn’t want to go over the top with a “modern farmhouse” theme, so we kept the clapboard to a minimum. It was the right texture for the walls in the Master Bath, and provides a clean, bright overall look to the space. The paint color is Benjamin Moore’s White Dove- a crisp yet warm white we used throughout the house (who knew there were hundreds of white colors!)
